From Excel planning
to a central planning platform
How an industrial company used SAP IBP to make its planning system-supported, transparent and cross-departmental.
01 Challenges
Decentralized Excel planning after organizational separation
Following an organizational split, SAP IBP was initially no longer used. Long-term planning was once again primarily carried out using Excel files maintained by various departments.
However, as the complexity of the planning increased, it became clear that a central and system-supported solution was necessary to improve transparency and data quality.
A structural change played an important role in the background:
One company became two independent organizations (Intercable TEC and Intercable Automotive Solutions), which now operate on separate systems.
This initial situation placed additional demands on the planning, particularly with regard to the coordination of processes and system landscapes.
02 Solution approach with TIVTAL
SAP IBP as a central planning platform
Together with TIVTAL, SAP IBP was reintroduced and established as the central planning platform. The focus was on combining forecasts, resource planning, and demand data in a common database.
Direct communication with the consultants allowed questions to be quickly clarified and adjustments to be implemented pragmatically.
03 Results in everyday life
